Ray Crew - Former EHL Hockey Player, Sheehan Hockey Coach

Former pro hockey player Ray Crew coached the Sheehan High School ice hockey team for 27 years, starting in 1976-1977 season.  During his time as head coach, the team experienced many successes including the program's first trip to the state playoffs and it's first playoff win.  Apart from wins and losses, Mr. Crew will always be remembered for his dedication to the program and to the young men he coached.

In recognition of what Mr. Crew contributed to high school ice hockey in the Greater New Haven area, the Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) gives out the "Ray Crew Sportsmanship Award" in his honor.  This award is given annually to the SCC member team that embodies the true essence of sportsmanship.
